HOW DO I TALK TO MY CHILD ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT?
Most children find the in-person testing to be fun and engaging! What you tell your child depends on their age and level of understanding. In general, we suggest telling kids that we are learning about how their brain works. The testing will involve sitting at a desk, like at school, and completing tasks on an iPad and with paper and pencil. They are not expected to get every question right - they simply need to try their best! For anxious children, reassure them that there are no "shots," scary machines, or invasive procedures. If your child is aware of their difficulties, you can reassure them that this testing will help us determine how they learn best, and help make school and home life as happy and successful as possible.
